The Prince of Mars

Le Petit Prince by Martin Miklica

Little Prince machines are programmed to act with full life! They are made for Mars, each one holding a plant, caring for it as it finds a place more hospitable than itself. Each on these little pods is also capable of speaking with the others, learning as one unit, creating a huge collective consciousness of Prince knowledge!

This design is one of the finalists in the 2009 Electrolux Design Lab.

Conceptual Watch by Max Germano

Art Center College of Design

Concept watch by Max Germano makes perfect sense. It fits across the back-of-the-palm and its selling points are easy access to the dial, and a clear view to the heart-rate, stats etc. The flip-side is that it could compromise the grip of the racket or whatever it is that you are holding as the straps may interfere. However, since the watchband is made from super-soft elastomer, it just may-be comfy.

D-catcher Clothes Drier by Tian Lingrui

Here’s a solution to a problem I didn’t even know existed. It’s not uncommon to see lines of clothes strung up over balconies even in the most densely populated areas. It presents a problem for anyone who lives on the lower levels because their balcony becomes an instant pool from all the water dripping from clothes hung above. The D-CATCHER not only keeps garments stretched for even drying, but also collects all the water inside a tube for reclamation.

Maptor – Portable Map Projector

Maptor is this wonderful combination of a map and projector that (predictably) projects the desired map onto any surface. Palm of the hand, floor, and walls included. What I really fancy about it, is its size. Small enough to pass off as a lipstick (or a chapstick for you guys), the device is discreet enough for you to quickly hop into a quiet corner, check for directions and make your way forth. All this without anyone knowing that you are lost or need help!

Another good thing about the Maptor is that it has GPS included; as a result there is this big red arrow on the map that points to your current location. Therefore getting your bearings and charting your course is easy.
